After a collision we get the vehicle off the road carefully and take it where your claim needs it to go.

After a collision or a slide off the road, the vehicle is usually the easiest part of the problem to solve. We handle that part so you can deal with everything else.

At a collision scene

Your safety comes first, then the scene, then the vehicle. If anyone is hurt or the vehicles are blocking live traffic, call 911 before you call us. In Ontario a collision with more than $5,000 of combined damage must be reported to police. With no injuries, that is done at a Collision Reporting Centre: see how reporting works in Ottawa.

Once that is handled, call us and we will come and clear the vehicle. We work around police and emergency crews and we will wait for their clearance before moving anything.

Slid off the road but nothing hit?

Not every recovery is a crash. Ottawa winters put a lot of vehicles into snowbanks and ditches, and spring puts them into soft shoulders and mud. If the vehicle is undamaged, that is a winch-out, which is often much cheaper than a full tow because the vehicle frequently drives away once it is back on solid ground.

Where the vehicle goes

Your choice, every time. Most people send it to their own body shop, the dealership, or a storage yard while the insurer decides. We will take it wherever you say.

You are not obliged to use any shop we suggest, and we will not make the recommendation sound like a requirement. If your insurer has already named a facility, tell us and we will take it straight there.

We deal with your insurance

We work with all insurance companies. Tell us who insures you and we call them to get the tow approved, so you are not the one waiting on hold at the roadside.

Keep whatever documentation we give you. Insurers normally want to see what was done, when, and where the vehicle was taken, and having that on hand makes the claim move faster.

Before we load, it is worth photographing the vehicle and the scene on your phone from several angles. Those photos cost nothing and are often the most useful thing you will have later.

Questions about accident recovery

  • Should I call you or the police first?

Police first if anyone is injured or traffic is blocked. If no one is hurt but the combined damage is over $5,000, it still has to be reported, at a Collision Reporting Centre within 30 days.

Once the scene is handled, call us and we will clear the vehicle, or take it to the reporting centre with you.

  • Do you work with my insurance company?

Yes. We work with all insurance companies. Give us your insurer and policy details and we contact them to get the tow approved, so you are not stuck on hold at the roadside.

Whether the tow is covered depends on your policy, and your insurer makes that call. Keep the documentation we give you for the claim.

  • Can you get my car out of a snowbank without towing it?

Often yes. If the vehicle is undamaged and drives once it is back on solid ground, a winch-out is all you need and it costs less than a tow. We will tell you which one applies.

  • Do I have to use the body shop you suggest?

No, and you never will with us. The vehicle goes wherever you choose.

  • What if my car is badly damaged and will not roll?

We winch it onto a flatbed. Mention the damage when you call so we bring the right truck.

Stuck right now? Call us.
